本片是台灣第一部以新移民觀點討論異國婚姻的紀錄片。影片從新移民女性的親身經驗出發，記錄四位異國姐妹在台灣所經歷的破碎婚姻，她們懷抱著追求幸福的夢 想來到台灣，但最後都走上自願或非自願失婚的道路。然而，失婚之後，她們該如何選擇人生的下一步？還有，她們所孕育的台灣之子／女，在父母的跨國婚姻決裂 之後，又將面臨什麽樣的生活及教育問題？
《後勁：王建民》由WYC影視（WYC Motions）拍攝，WYC影視、藝博思國際有限公司、牽猴子整合行銷股份有限公司共同出品。加拿大台裔導演陳惟揚花費四年多時間，和王建民一起飛過美國21座城市，紀錄包含王建民在德州棒球農場苦練的艱辛、熱血重返大聯盟在皇家隊的時期，貼身採訪王建民的太太、小孩、經紀人，以及和王建民共事過的教練、經理，更包含和王建民熟識的台灣球員如：郭泓志、鄭錡鴻等。讓觀眾感受從未見過王建民的另一面，感受王建民這一路付出的過程。而這一切也呼應片名《後勁 LATE LIFE》（LATE LIFE在棒球術語，指的是球在最後進到捕手手套時的尾勁，一個階段旅程的漂亮收尾）的意義。
