日本西部和歌山县的白滨町有一只叫做永明的大熊猫，已经生了14只幼崽，是全球最为多产的熊猫。中国去年举办了一次有关大熊猫繁殖的国际峰会，白滨町独特的繁殖方法吸引了许多注意。这种方法让人惊讶。白滨町的动物园有着全球最为成功的繁殖中心之一，我们用了1000天密切跟进这个项目，成功地记录了整个繁殖过程，从生殖前到看护阶段，属于史上首次。新生熊猫面临着生命危险，即使微小的改变也可能致命。产后压力致使母亲变得暴力，熊猫幼崽极为脆弱，抚养它们需要许多人类关怀，但白滨町的动物园将其减少到最小，试图唤醒母亲的母性。
