电影《畹町桥》以第二次世界大战时期中国远征军的滇缅抗日战场为背景，以一名远征军老兵上官青回国寻亲的回忆为主线，用上官青与远征军连长凌河和当地傣家姑娘玉香3个年轻人在战争中的命运、情感，再现惨烈而英勇的滇缅抗战历史，追忆入缅作战远征军的功绩。 畹町桥是中缅两国交界河上的界桥，于1938年抢修滇缅公路时初建，是当时中国对外联系的重要国际交通口岸。1942年，中国十万远征军从畹町桥出境，赴缅作战，抗击日军，在对日作战岁月里沉重打击了日本侵略者，创造了辉煌的抗战历史。
