　　一起医疗事故毁掉了年轻医生汉克（马克·费厄斯坦 Mark Feuerstein 饰）的大好前途，他不仅失去了工作，亦失去了生活中美好的一切。在弟弟埃文（保罗·卡斯坦佐 Paulo Costanzo 饰）的陪伴下，汉克离开了伤心地前往弗吉尼亚的汉普，希望能够在那里换换心情。
　　一次偶然中，汉克闯入了一幢正在举办派对的豪宅，成功的救回了一条垂危的生命，经由此事而在当地名声大噪的汉克没过多久就成为了富豪们的“私人医生”。看着富人们糜烂而又奢侈的生活，汉克的心里很不是滋味，与此同时，灰暗的过去也时时折磨着汉克的内心。在这条不归路上越走越远的汉克会有着怎样的遭遇呢？

Showtime台把两部台柱剧集分开了。过去两年一直放在一起连着播的《双面法医 Dexter》和《国土安全 Homeland》将分别各自被安排在新时段，方便各自带领新剧。《国土安全》将继续留在秋季，其 国土安全第三季将在9月29日回归。而《双面法医》的第八季（可能是最终季）将在6月30日回归。这是该剧第一次在夏季播出。《双面法医》将作为新剧《雷·多诺万 Ray Donovan》的前导。该剧由刚刚获得奥斯卡最佳女主提名的澳大利亚女星Naomi Watts的老公Liev Schreiber主演，围绕一个专门帮洛杉矶富商名流解决“问题”的男子展开。而跟《国土安全》搭档播出的是《性爱大师 Master of Sex》。该剧根据性学家William Masters和Virginia Johnson之间的故事改编。主演为Michael Sheen和Lizzy Caplan。
