台湾中国菜硕果仅存的大师老朱(郎雄)退休后,渐尝老年生活的诸多尴尬:每周日费心做出的一桌丰盛菜肴,并无将三个女儿(杨贵媚、吴倩莲、王渝文)齐齐拉到饭桌的吸引力,已经长大成人的她们,心里藏了许多比陪父亲吃饭更重要的事;多年老友的突然离世,令他在友情这块也有了缺口;而对厨师来讲最重要的味觉的丧失,则将其彻底推到人生的低谷。   三个女儿虽各忙各事,却也操心着老朱的晚年生活,计划着为其找个老伴,但她们没料到老朱早已悄无声息地谈起了“黄昏恋”。吃惊过后,老朱最看重的继承了他做菜天赋的二女儿家倩因为自身的生活经历,对父亲、她与父亲的关系有了新的认识,而对老朱来讲更大的惊喜,还在后面。

 李大婶治家有方,社员们赞不绝口,唯独小女儿雪花对妈妈总是一腔怨气。一年前,在党的富民政策鼓舞下,李大婶为早日实现"盖新房、娶媳妇"的心愿,执意让雪花停学,回家帮喂猪。天资聪颖的雪花每当想到荒废了学业,心里就十分怅惘。姐姐菊花与她性格相反,是一个从小没念过书,遵从母命、辛勤操劳的姑娘。大儿子家兴勤劳、孝顺、一心扑在农业生产上。热情开朗的新娘春杏鼓励自己的丈夫、担任团支部宣传委员的家兴在村里办起了图书室,雪花担任图书管理员。春杏还热情地辅导菊花学文化、唱歌,给这个家庭增添了不少生气。李大婶喜欢有文化顾大局的儿媳,可听说春杏参加村里文化活动,动员菊花去学文化,还支持雪花到县里参加为期十天的文艺创作讲习班,心里很不高兴。春杏感到很委屈,雪花和母亲的思想距离也越来越大。小儿子家炎在全家的支持下终于考上了大学,全家人非常高兴,乡亲们了热烈祝贺,李大婶又到坟前告慰丈夫的亡灵:家里盖了新房,娶了媳妇,也有了大学生。为了报答盖房时帮了大忙的朋友,李大婶包办将菊花许配给了这个人家。菊花不敢违背母亲的意志,含泪离家。李大婶刚送走出嫁的女儿菊花,回家知道春杏回了娘家,雪花离家出走,一时气急悲痛地昏厥过去。家兴找回春杏,她顾全大局,挑起了全家的生活重担。李大婶大病初愈,看到家里的一切被春杏操持得井井有序,欣慰地笑了。可想到出嫁的女儿,出走的雪花,内心一阵难过。春杏和家兴开导母亲,希望以后不要在学习和婚姻上限制雪花。李大婶有所醒悟,急切盼望雪花回来,春杏四处打听,终于找回给人家当保姆的雪花。李大婶通过这场风波,意识到自己思想没有赶上时代的步伐,逐渐消除了思想上的隔阂。转眼间到了大年三十,趁一家团聚之际,她心悦诚服地把家里的"大权"托付给了儿媳春杏。儿女们为母亲能最终理解他们,脸上露出了幸福的笑容。

简介:Somewhere in the remote region, the war ends. In the midst of ruined cities and houses in the streets, in rural hamlets, everywhere where people still live, are children who have lost their homes and parents. Abandoned, hungry, and in rags, defenseless and humiliated, they wander through the world. Hunger drives them. Little streams of orphans merge into a river which rushes forward and submerges everything in its path. The children do not know any feeling; they know only the world of their enemies. They fight, steal, struggle for a mouthful of food, and violence is merely a means to get it. A gang led by Cahoun finds a refuge in an abandoned castle and encounters an old composer who has voluntarily retired into solitude from a world of hatred, treason, and crime. How can they find a common ground, how can they become mutual friends The castle becomes their hiding place but possibly it will also be their first home which they may organize and must defend. But even for this, the price will be very high.  To this simple story, the journalist, writer, poet, scriptwriter, movie director, and film theoretician Béla Balázs applied many years of experience. He and the director Géza Radványi created a work which opened a new postwar chapter in Hungarian film. Surprisingly, this film has not lost any of its impact over the years, especially on a profound philosophical level. That is to say, it is not merely a movie about war; it is not important in what location and in what period of time it takes place. It is a story outside of time about the joyless fate of children who pay dearly for the cruel war games of adults.  At the time it was premiered, the movie was enthusiastically received by the critics. The main roles were taken by streetwise boys of a children's group who created their roles improvisationally in close contact with a few professional actors, and in the children's acting their own fresh experience of war's turmoil appears to be reflected. At the same time, their performance fits admirably into the mosaic of a very complex movie language. Balázs's influence revealed itself, above all, in the introductory sequences an air raid on an amusement park, seen in a montage of dramatic situations evoking the last spasms of war, where, undoubtedly, we discern the influence of classical Soviet cinematography. Shooting, the boy's escape, the locomotive's wheels, the shadows of soldiers with submachine guns, the sound of a whistle—the images are linked together in abrupt sequences in which varying shots and expressive sharp sounds are emphasized. A perfectly planned screenplay avoided all elements of sentimentality, time-worn stereotypes of wronged children, romanticism and cheap simplification. The authors succeeded in bridging the perilous dramatic abyss of the metamorphosis of a children's community. Their telling of the story (the scene of pillaging, the assault on the castle, etc) independently introduced some neorealist elements which, at that time, were being propagated in Italy by De Sica, Rossellini, and other film artists. The rebukes of contemporary critics, who called attention to formalism for its own sake have been forgotten. The masterly art of cameraman Barnabás Hegyi gives vitality to the poetic images. His angle shots of the children, his composition of scenes in the castle interior, are a living document of the times, and underline the atmosphere and the characters of the protagonists. The success of the picture was also enhanced by the musical art of composer Dénes Buday who, in tense situations, inserted the theme of the Marseilaise into the movie's structure, as a motive of community unification, as an expression of friendship and the possibility of understanding.  Valahol Europaban is the first significant postwar Hungarian film. It originated in a relaxed atmosphere, replete with joy and euphoria, and it includes these elements in order to demonstrate the strength of humanism, tolerance, and friendship. It represents a general condemnation of war anywhere in the world, in any form.
