《今日说法》诞生于1999年1月2日，是中国中央电视台(cctv)第一档全日播法制栏目，已经成为家喻户晓的品牌栏目。栏目秉持“点滴记录中国法治进程”的理念，以“重在普法，监督执法，促进立法、服务百姓”为宗旨，全力打造“中国人的法律午餐”。栏目收视排名长期稳居央视前列，影响力持续增强，《12.4年度法治人物颁奖盛典》、《小撒探会》等特别节目铸就高端品质，使栏目实现了更大的社会动员能力和普法功能。
经历了十年动乱，知青丁尚彪和妻子返城回到上海，学业中断，身无一技之长，令他在这个充满变革的社会里举步维艰。在朋友的鼓励下，丁尚彪于1989年6月飞往彼岸的日本，开始了求学创业之路。在北海道的阿寒町，他和一众同胞为了未来努力学习，最后却不得不迫于生计逃离这里，成为一名非法滞留者。在此期间，他的想法发生转变，眼见自己的学业无望，于是丁将全部心血花在女儿身上。拼尽全力打工，只为将女儿送往美国留学。15年的日本岁月，一家人天各一方，辛酸、喜悦、误会、理解，万般情感，言语难尽…… 本片为系列纪录片《我们的留学生活——在日本的日子》收官之作。
