影片讲述了中国早期摇滚人侯牧人的女儿侯祖辛，带着导演身份诚挚纪录中国摇滚人三十年来的沉浮与坚持。是父亲也是主角的侯牧人身患脑梗，这种病会反复发作，使肢体瘫痪或眩晕，严重的会导致急性昏迷，甚至死亡！可怀揣着摇滚音乐人的执着和热血，侯牧人奇迹般的坚持了下来。 影片结尾时，侯牧人唱起他在脑梗后写的第一首歌《像个傻逼一样的活着》时，台下观众泪流满面，就连一向沉默寡言的张楚也流下了泪水。当老炮们听到那些音乐，想起那些往事的时候，重燃心中的情怀，正应了片尾的那句话：“老去的只是身体，而非灵魂”。
